ACORN Pimp Video a Deliberate Fake

Posted in Analysis, Observations, Strategy by Captain Optimistic on February 18, 2010

Just in case you all missed this, have a read:

While O’Keefe is a whackjob and should be in jail, the greater absurdity here is how the media pushed and then defended this story, which anyone who has shame now has to accept was a carefully-edited YouTube propaganda piece reported by every single network as “investigative journalism.”

Anyone who tells you “but ACORN was going to give money to a PIMP” is a fucking idiot, and ought to be corrected right then and there.  The video was a fake:

Harshbarger also shed light on the controversial videos, noting that portions had been “substantially” edited, including some voice overdubbing.

A seriously fucked up fake:

The lying, the media complicity, the vicious racism of O’Keefe and his buddies have been covered elsewhere.  I just want to point out what vicious misogynists they are, too.  They went out of their way to turn people’s kindness towards marginalized women into a bad thing. When they encountered decent human beings who take responsibility when asked for help to stop violence against women, they brimmed over with hate for those people, and they set out to destroy them.  And while they think kindness towards prostitutes is a weakness, and violence against women is a joke, they exploited the public’s horror at sex trafficking and violence against women to slur people who were the only people in the room who actually had a problem with violence against women.

That is some fucked-up, woman-hating shit.

It is indeed.  Don’t doubt that conservatives will continue to use it as a weapon.  That is their mistake.  It is a weakness, and the second you see it exposed pounce and use it to give them a merciless ethical thrashing.

OK. So let’s say it’s a fake. And that’s supposed to make me like ACORN now?

Bit of a non sequitur there. Note that there is no “let’s say its a fake”. This isn’t hypothetical. It is a fake.

Can anyone back up that O’Keefe is a criminal and should be in jail without due process? I know what is on the tapes and once out the left spindoctors will be working full times

Yes if O’Keefe releases the same videos he has jealously guarded from sympathetic media and supporters alike (this is likely to happen), I’m sure the left spindoctors will be working “full times” to combat the always truthful right-wingers (who never engage in spindoctoring ever, as they live in the no spin zone).

Sarcasm aside, no one is saying he should go to jail without due process. Talk about a pathetic straw man argument. In reality if those videos are released they will be damning to O’Keefe.

OK. It’s a fake. And ACORN is still a sham.

Can you actually cite real journalistic resources rather than blogs? Regardless, you love dumping your tax money into ACORN. So, go ahead. Every time you get your pay check write them a check and donate. That way they won’t be leeching off the government. But, when ACORN runs out of money they’ll just morph into some other stupid community organizing group and try and hit up the government for entitlements. But, ACORN and everyone else looking for a free ride better take a look at the deficit. The piper is coming and we’ll have to pay him. The day of the free ride is over.

I’m sorry, I forgot that the media has all the journalistic integrity, and blogs have none. MY BAD. Especially blogs like the guardian. But hey its ok its not like the points they raised utterly decimate your examples, and you feel the need to attack the source since the arguments are ironclad.

Getting money from the government (weren’t they defunded as a direct result of the conservative fraud referenced in my post – you know – before you jumped off topic) does not equal leeching. They work for that money – hard. Or should the government simply not spend money at all, on anything?

We do have a deficit (you do like to jump topics, don’t you?). We need to look at *both* cutting spending and raising taxes to get it under control.
